An Osprey was seen eating a fish on one of the Osprey platforms! We have had other interesting birds around the reservoir including Pectoral sandpiper, White-winged black tern, Red-necked phalarope, Great white egret, and Spoonbill to name a few. We have been clearing some of the Reed mace (Bulrush) from the pond edges as it can be quite dominant, and some reeds from the front ponds so they don't get too choked up. The sheep have gone back to Tollesbury reserve after spending the summer here helping to improve the sward on the meadow. We are starting to cut the wildflower areas, including the sides of the viewing mound. We checked the nest boxes of the new Sand martin bank at the western end of the reservoir just in case something had nested in there, but nothing this year. It might take a few seasons for them to find and use it.
