About the event
A beginner's guide to birdwatching with binoculars, including two walks around the reserve as well as a theory session.
There will be a quick informal introduction before we head straight out on the reserve to go birdwatching! A skilled staff member and a volunteer will point out all the birds by sight or sound that are encountered during the day.
After a few hours of birdwatching, head back to the centre for a theory session, before we head out one last time after lunch. Please note this event will include walking up to four miles around the Nature Reserve and you will need to provide your own lunch, although it can be purchased in the centre cafe.
By the end of the course, we hope you will have learned how to use your binoculars and recognise common birds found at Hanningfield.
The gates to the centre will be open even if they are pulled closed. Please ensure you bring lunch (or lunch can be purchased at the cafe), hot drinks, and binoculars if you have them! If you do not have your own set of binoculars, we will have a limited number for you to borrow. Please do not purchase binoculars, especially for the event, as you will learn the best type to buy on the course.
Advance booking is essential. Please dress appropriately, walking boots are recommended. This event is only available to adults (Age 18+)
