Did you know that in the UK, gardens make up about 4,330 square kilometres? That’s bigger than the whole of Essex. If we want nature to make a speedy recovery, we need to invite wildlife to spill out of our nature reserves and into our gardens.
You can help by inviting your Nature Neighbours into your space by following our easy DIY guides and plotting your action for wildlife on our virtual maps. From turning a flowerpot upside down to creating a mini-pond there’s something for every garden. Click on a species to get started.

Hedgehogs - Round, brown and famously covered in spines, the European hedgehog is the UK’s most familiar wild animal. Yet, hedgehog numbers have fallen by 30% in just over ten years due to habitat loss and fragmentation. But you can help link up our landscape for our prickly friends.
