Our hands-on outdoor sessions are designed to bring your classroom learning to life. Your visit is planned and delivered by one of our experienced Wilder Learning Officers to be both educational and enjoyable. We are first aid trained, DBS-checked and all our visits are thoroughly risk assessed.

Plant power
Follow the plants from seed to flower and back. Activities can include flower or tree identification, seed dispersal and pollination.
Bushcraft
Use tools, work in a team and get creative with natural materials. Activities can include fire lighting, shelter building and natural crafts.
Seasons
Look for seasonal clues around the nature reserve. Learn how different animals survive in different seasons.
Senses
Explore the reserve and it’s wildlife using your senses. What can you see? Who is singing? What is that smell?
Nature art
Explore nature looking for different colours and textures. Use natural materials to create pictures and outdoor works of art.
Local history
Not all of our nature reserves have always been for wildlife. Walk through an aspect of local history and learn about how people and events have changed the site. (Langdon and Ingrebourne only)

With a range of marshlands, beaches or estuaries, our sites provide diverse opportunities for coastal discoveries and investigation.
Fossils
Find out about fossils at the Naze and go on a fossil hunt on the beach for fossilised shells and sharks teeth.
