Clayburn Garden created by local residents

Clayburn Garden created by local residents

How a housing estate in Thurrock is nurturing its community and nature.
Residents of Clayburn Gardens, a housing estate in Essex, were keen to bring the community together and improve their communal green space with a new garden.

Residents in the local community got in touch with Thurrock Council, asking for gardening facilities to be installed in their communal space to help people connect with nature and each other.

Now, the group have raised beds, a greenhouse, compost bins and a wormery.

The council connected the group to Essex Wildlife Trust, who provide additional support and advice. The Trust regularly checks in with the Trust's Team Wilder staff, getting guidance on making the space wildlife-friendly, including providing an area for hedgehogs to live.

The group has more plans to develop this garden for nature, and we look forward to hearing the updates.
