About the event
Join author and storyteller Bernadette Russell in the woods at Langdon Nature Discovery Park to celebrate the winter solstice and hear stories about the Holly King and the Oak King, as well as a forest deep with snow in which live dancing foxes, wise owls, clever deer and a tree full of wishes.
Enjoy funny and magical stories of the wonder of winter, and take home your very own star to wish upon!
Please wear suitable footwear and clothing as this event takes place outside. Bring your own blanket and chair! Please arrive at the Nature Discovery Centre at 2.30pm for a prompt 3pm start. In the event of rain, this event will take place inside the Nature Discovery Centre.
This event is suitable for children aged 6+.
About Bernadette Russell
Bernadette is has told stories at many venues including the Royal Albert Hall, National Theatre, BFI, National Trust, Southbank Centre, and the Royal Festival Hall, focusing on nature, wonder, magic, hope and kindness. She is also the author of five previous nonfiction books for adults and children which focus on the power of small acts of kindness. She is one of the storytelling team at Butser Ancient Farm in Hampshire and storyteller in residence at Lesnes Abbey Wood in Bexley.
